Biography for Linda Reinmiller

After a childhood spent doing handcrafts — everything from crochet to fabric painting — Linda Kay Reinmiller taught herself counted cross stitch in 1986. After taking numerous classes and courses from local shops and guilds and from national teachers, she started teaching at local shops and guilds in 1993, teaching everything from beginning cross stitch to comparing computer programs.

She began designing professionally in 1995 and teaching nationally in 1997. Linda has always stressed two things in her classes — everyone is creative if she will only give herself a chance and needlework is supposed to be fun. Her classes give students the opportunity to express their creativity through choices in color, thread, and design element placement. The fun comes from her incredibly clear step-by-step instructions that make any of her designs easy to finish.

As a teacher Linda has set a goal of inspiring the creative process in her students while maintaining a class atmosphere of fun and fellowship. She is currently exploring the true artistic possibilities of the needle and thread, and this exploration is influencing the classes she is developing. She hopes to bring needle art into the realm of fine art where quilt art and tapestries are currently making inroads.

Linda has taught around the country at the EGA Region Seminars, EGA and ANG chapters, shops, CATS Stitching Festivals, and Spirit of Cross Stitch Festivals. She was on the 1999 and 2003 ANG National Seminar Faculties and is slated for the faculty again in 2005. Linda was also one of the original CyberWorkshop instructors on the ANG Web site in 1999-2000 and teaches a Correspondence Course through ANG.
